Job Description:
This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this role is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. The role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, and industry guidelines, while promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review Health Risk Assessments with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to identify hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
o Management of hazardous substances and COSHH risk assessments
o Chemical exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, toxic gases)
o Asbestos management and surveys
o Noise and vibration management and assessments
o Radiation management and assessments
o Thermal hazard assessments
o Potable water management
o Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training programs (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE maintenance).
• Conduct assurance inspections and audits across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, and ensuring coverage of accommodation, welfare, and food prep areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
o Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
o Combination of BOHS W & P modules
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.
2. Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce.
3. Excellent communication skills, able to present effectively in various forums and mediums.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
