1. Exercise of general professional duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
* (a) if employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal;
* (b) if employed by a board on terms under which he/she is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school where he/she may be required to work.
Exercise of particular duties
* (a) A teacher (other than a principal) shall perform, in accordance with directions from the principal, such duties as may reasonably be assigned.
* (b) A teacher employed by a board or in a school shall perform duties as reasonably directed by the board or principal of the school where they are required to work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
* Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
* Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development and progress.
1. General
* Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
* Providing advice and guidance on educational and social matters;
* Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs;
* Communicating with parents and external bodies;
* Participating in meetings related to these areas.
1. Assessment/Reporting
Providing assessments, reports, and references on pupils, ensuring confidentiality where necessary.
1. Staff Development
* Participating in staff development schemes;
* Reviewing and developing teaching methods and programmes;
* Advising on course development and assessment methods.
1. Discipline/Health and Safety
* Maintaining good order and discipline;
* Safeguarding pupils' health and safety;
* Participating in school meetings related to curriculum and organization.
1. Public Examinations
Preparing pupils for exams, assessing and reporting on their performance, and supervising during exams.
1. Management Activities/Administration
* Contributing to the appointment and development of staff;
* Managing the work of other teachers;
* Participating in curriculum and organizational management;
* Handling administrative tasks such as attendance and resource management.
1. Working Hours
A full-time teacher shall be available for 195 days per year, with specific hours and duties as specified, including breaks and supervision.
1. Staff Cover
Covering for absent teachers as per school policies, with specific conditions based on school size and circumstances.

Section 1 - Essential Criteria
* Qualifications: Recognized teaching qualification, degree or equivalent, and registration with GTCNI.
* Experience: At least one year of teaching Mathematics at Key Stage Four with positive outcomes, using diverse strategies and digital media.
Section 2 - Additional Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of NI Curriculum, safeguarding, SEND, assessment methods, and IT systems.
* Skills: Effective classroom management, inclusive environment, collaboration, and communication skills.
* Values: Alignment with the school’s values and ethos, as detailed on the school's website.
Section 3 - Desirable Criteria
* Experience: Two years of teaching Mathematics at Key Stage Four, supporting diverse learners, monitoring progress, and intervention strategies.
