Systems Manager – Defence Simulation Platform (RAF Boulmer)
Flexible Hybrid Working
A leading provider of defence training and simulation systems is seeking a Systems Manager to support a major simulation and training platform located at RAF Boulmer. This is a stand‑alone on‑site role, ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy and enjoys working in a unique, high‑security military environment.
About the Role
You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and security of a mission‑critical training and simulation system used for RAF training exercises. This includes:
* Maintaining and supporting the training platform and associated systems
* Applying patches, updates, and conducting routine system maintenance
* Ensuring system readiness and IT infrastructure compliance
* Managing offline/isolated environments and classified systems
* Acting as the primary point of contact for on‑site RAF stakeholders
* Providing reporting and occasional project support to the wider organisation
The role requires someone comfortable working independently, capable of managing technical responsibilities while interfacing confidently with operational and senior military personnel.
Ideal Candidate
* Background in Command & Control, simulation, operations rooms, or similar (Sergeant level or above preferred)
* Strong experience with VMware, VDI, and offline system management
* Prior experience working with classified systems
* Holds (or can obtain) SC Clearance
* Comfortable balancing variable on‑site presence with remote working
