Overview
Laboratory Technician to join a small laboratory team processing water samples. The role involves performing analytical methods within the laboratory to generate accurate and reliable results for customers in Microbiology and Chemistry, following the Quality Management System and EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
* Perform analytical methods within the laboratory to generate accurate and reliable results for the customers (both Microbiology & Chemistry analytical procedures)
* Follow the procedures set out within the Quality Management System
* Comply with EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation standards in accordance with procedures
* Perform supporting tasks, including, but not limited to cleaning, calibrations, daily checks, sample reception, media preparation, supporting stores department
* Maintain a tidy and clean workplace
* Perform validation exercise on new analytical methods
* Ensure any delays in reporting results are communicated to the customers
* Raise any concerns about performance of analytical methods, to the Laboratory/ Deputy Manager
* Participate in Proficiency Testing Schemes
* Perform audits on analytical methods and the quality system
Qualifications
* Good organisational skills
* Able to prioritise

* Trustworthy and reliable
* Self-motivated and can use initiative
* Able to work in a team
* Previous experience working within a laboratory and understands the importance of good laboratory practices
* Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Confident working with a variety IT Systems for example LIMS and Microsoft Office
