We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Clerk to join our Northwich team and help deliver an exceptional payroll service. With solid experience in a payroll bureau environment, you’ll take ownership of weekly, quarterly and monthly payrolls for various clients including sole traders, limited companies and partnerships across diverse sectors. You’ll report into the Senior Payroll Manager, but also be part of a supportive network of payroll professionals across the business, working together to share knowledge and maintain best practice.

Job Purpose
The primary function of this role is to independently ensure the accurate and timely delivery of client payroll services.
Job Responsibilities
* Responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients including Auto Enrolment and BACS payments
* Manage and process a full payroll and establish good working relationships with all clients.
* Keep up to date on legislation and industry changes through independent research.
* Work collaboratively within the payroll team and wider payroll group at bennettbrooks.
* Maintain good working relationships through effective communication with colleagues, clients, HMRC and other third-party providers.
* Actively seek to solve payroll related and customer service issues.
* Any other duties commensurate with the role.
Requirements
* Extensive payroll bureau experience, ideally within an accountancy practice.
* CIPP qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
* Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory requirements and Auto Enrolment.
* Confident with manual payroll calculations and the ability to resolve complex queries.
* Experience with payroll software. BrightPay experience is a bonus.
* Excellent communication skills and a professional client approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
* Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Salary: Up to £33,000 per year dependent upon experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
