Overview
The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome Senior Mental Health Practitioners (Band 6) to the team. These posts form part of our Community Transformation Plan, working within a core MDT and professionally registered practitioners. This role provides an opportunity for progression into a senior position with leadership, supervision, and service development responsibilities. The team offers wrap-around support and a focus on staff wellbeing and development.
These posts are full-time (37.5 hours) with flexible working possible. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan, with travel to satellite clinics across Wigan and Leigh expected.
Main duties
The Specialist Community Mental Health Team provides care, treatment and support to adults with significant mental health needs in Wigan and Leigh. The Senior Mental Health Practitioners will support a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the direct clinical supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7). You will join a caring and supportive team and be supported by junior staff and the wider MDT.
You will be required to have experience of working in a similar setting and role. You will undertake the duties of care coordinator, managing a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs under the CPA framework. You will provide direct care and signposting to appropriate services and interventions, and you will be involved in managing duty calls from adult service users, carers, friends and families seeking advice and support.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Professional registration (RMN, OT or Social Worker).
* Desirable: Post registration training in relevant field; Leadership/management training; Assessor/mentorship training.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working in an acute environment; mentorship, supervision and co-ordination of staff; working as a Nurse in Charge/Shift Co-ordinator; care planning process; multi-agency framework; contribution to change management; leadership; problem solving.
Knowledge
* Essential: Knowledge of Recovery Model; Mental Health Act; effective care coordination; national policies and guidance; evidence-based and reflective practice; Vulnerable Adults Procedure and Child Protection; Safety, Privacy and Dignity Guidelines.
Skills
* Essential: Leadership, delegation, communication across settings, clinical records, risk management, IT skills, time and workload management, ability to work to deadlines, ability to identify and minimise risk.
