This post offers the opportunity to practice pathology to a high standard with supportive colleagues in an area with an enviable quality of life, with close links to Cardiff and the Welsh Coast and Countryside.

The post would suit either a first-time consultant looking to develop within an innovative team or an established consultant histopathologist wishing to relocate. Main duties

We work closely with clinical colleagues within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and provide a wide range of cellular pathology services with a broad workload. This includes specimens from dermatology, gynaecology, head and neck, lung, breast and gastrointestinal tracts, including bowel screening specimens. The appointee will contribute to developing a wide-ranging cellular pathology service across primary, secondary and tertiary care colleagues. There are opportunities to participate in coronial autopsy for all Consultants (optional in the current job plan).

The Health Board has cancer unit status for breast, colorectal, lung, upper GI, urology, gynaecology, head and neck and skin. Workload is shared according to RCPath workload points, and the appointee will be encouraged to develop a specialist interest to complement the existing team. The department actively participates in teaching and training of medical and laboratory staff.
