We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a CATEGORY B male prison.

HMP Swaleside functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to operate smoothly. Our Facilities Maintenance Team ensures safe and efficient operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, families, and the wider community.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to maintaining a secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS and seek a Mechanical Engineer with the following experience and qualifications:
* At least two years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
* Knowledge of Water Supply Regulations and Legionella L8 control
* Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
* Understanding of relevant health and safety requirements
* Plumber qualified to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Good health and safety knowledge
* Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
