Responsibilities
* Transport and supervise children and young people in care for contact with parents, carers or other identified family members, as specified in the care plan.
* Collect and safely transport children to and from their supervised family‑time sessions.
* Establish effective working relationships with families, constructively challenge negative aspects of care practice, empower parents to develop skills and find solutions to issues observed during family time, and maintain accurate and detailed records of child‑family interactions within family‑time centres and other community settings.
* Continuously assess the risk to each child and ensure arrangements that protect them, in line with "Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015", local safeguarding board procedures and "Safeguarding Disabled Children 2009".
* Plan and prioritise workload within established time frames, ensuring that all written reports meet deadlines and that safety and security are upheld by adhering to all appropriate policies; report and escalade issues appropriately as they arise.
* Supervise family time between children and their parents or significant family members, ensuring that family‑time requirements and procedures are followed.
* Communicate effectively with children, parents, carers and professionals as and when required.
* Carry out any other duties that fall within the scope of the role.
* Provide a written report from your observation of family time, which is utilised by social workers and other professionals to inform further assessments.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full current driving licence and sole use of a car for work purposes.
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Availability to work flexibly outside core hours.
* Experience working and communicating with children and families.
* Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with families, social workers and other professionals.
* Ability to work independently with support and supervision.
Other Details
Hybrid role based in Birmingham. Candidates must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right‑to‑work documents.
