We’re looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at a specialist school in Newcastle. Our school supports pupils with a variety of complex needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and medical conditions. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Providing 1:1 and small group support, both in and outside the classroom. Collaborating with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised learning programmes. Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Supporting pupils with personal care and sensory regulation when needed. Acting as a positive role model, encouraging independence, confidence, and social development. About You We’re looking for someone who: Ideally has experience working with children or young people with SEND (though this is not essential). Remains calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations. Demonstrates strong communication skills and works well in a team. Is adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn. Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate or Team Teach training. What We Offer A warm and inclusive school community.
