Medical & Dental Servicing Section (MDSS) Equipment Engineer
DE&S Deca, part of Defence Equipment & Support, is seeking a Medical & Dental Servicing Section Equipment Engineer. The role involves inspecting, installing, servicing, repairing and carrying out electrical safety testing on medical, dental and veterinary equipment across air, land and maritime domains, primarily at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, install, service, repair and carry out electrical safety testing (E‑Safety) of medical, dental, veterinary and related equipment.
- Diagnose faults, make technical decisions and work independently to resolve equipment failures and urgent service requests at MOD sites.
- Perform self‑directed testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to component level using approved engineering documentation.
- Hold self‑certification, over‑sign, certify and condition equipment, determining serviceable, non‑serviceable or scrap status.
- Use MOD IT software and basic Microsoft Office programmes such as Excel.
- Provide specialist advice and support to Practice Managers and other staff.
- Work within engineering governance, policy and legislation.
- Attend a fully‑funded, 4‑week residential training course on commencement and complete required manufacturer training within 6‑12 months.
Person Specification – Essential Criteria
- Level 3 qualification in electrical/electronic engineering and practical experience in the discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Security Check (SC) clearance, obtainable without caveats.

Work hours are 37 hours per week (Monday‑Thursday 8:00‑16:30, Friday 8:00‑13:00). A work van and fuel card are provided. Field Service Representative Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,127 per annum is available.
