You will be working closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Key Responsibilities As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Walton, your responsibilities will include: Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN Supporting small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation Assisting pupils to access the curriculum alongside their peers Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interaction Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt support strategies Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and lunchtimes Using visual supports, sensory resources, and differentiated materials Monitoring progress and recording observations Supporting personal care when required (training provided if needed) Maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment Upholding safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times The Ideal Candidate The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will: Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting Demonstrate patience, empathy, and emotional resilience Have a good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs Be confident in supporting behaviour using positive strategies Be flexible, proactive, and reliable Have strong communication and teamwork skills Be available for an ASAP start Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing Experience with EHCPs, sensory integration strategies, or speech and language interventions is desirable but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
