We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Business Partner to deliver a comprehensive financial management service across designated Directorates within a public sector organisation. This is a strategic role, providing financial leadership, robust governance, and data-driven insight to support decision-making and organisational performance.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of the finance function, ensuring delivery of a modern, professional, and responsive financial services.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Business Partnering
* Provide end-to-end financial management support, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting.
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, offering constructive challenge and insight to support strategic decisions.
* Ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and value for money across Directorates.
* Lead on budget oversight, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and delivery of financial targets.
* Develop financial awareness through training and support to budget holders.
* Deliver data-driven analysis to identify cost drivers, efficiencies, and savings opportunities.
Strategic Planning & Business Cases
* Contribute to financial strategy, business planning, and long-term financial modelling (up to 10 years).
* Support the development of robust business cases and option appraisals.
* Provide expert financial advice on organisational change projects and policy initiatives.
Governance & Risk Management
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations, government guidance, and internal controls.
* Identify, assess, and communicate financial risks to senior stakeholders.
* Support responses to audits, FOI requests, and regulatory queries.
Continuous Improvement
* Drive innovation and best practice in financial processes and systems.
* Support the development of a modern finance function and operating model.
* Build strong relationships across teams to enhance service delivery.
Leadership & Collaboration
* Provide leadership within the finance team, supporting development and performance.
* Deputise for the Head of Strategic Financial Management as required.
* Represent Finance on internal and external forums and project groups.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
* Fully qualified accountant and member of one of the following:
o ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ICAI, ICAS, ICAEW, or CPA Ireland
* Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering management accounting and analysis to senior stakeholders
