Our process chemical and process engineering team comprises specialist chemical engineers, scientists and industrial experts who shape everything from conceptual design ideas through pre‑FEED and FEED to completed turnkey facilities. We support projects at all stages of delivery, ensuring safe, regulatory‑compliant solutions while focusing on design development, process optimisation, debottlenecking and control of chemical, physical and biological process from hydrogen production to carbon capture and transformation, through to water and wastewater treatment.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the work of others and liaise with engineers of other disciplines, imparting knowledge and experience.
* Develop mass and energy balances, process data sheets, control philosophies and commissioning plans.
* Write reports and develop fee proposals, feasibility studies, plant operating and capital cost estimates.
* Lead process design activities in HAZOP teams, chairing studies and resolving technical matters in highly regulated sectors.
* Produce design deliverables such as PID charts, plant layouts, GA and energy and mass balances within agreed timelines and budget.
* Support the graduate training scheme, participate in the mentoring programme and help shape the future pipeline of process engineers.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience leading process engineering teams to deliver agreed timelines and budget.
* Proficiency with Biowin/GPS‑X modelling software.
* Experience acting as the process designer in HAZOP teams and chairing HazOp studies.
* Development of fee proposals, creation of PID’s, plant layouts, GA and energy/mass balances.
* Experience of HazOp, DSEAR, COMAH, SIL determination, flammable gas handling and compression.
* Design experience of fixed and suspended growth systems, anaerobic treatment of biosolids and high‑strength effluent, biogas handling and upgrading, membrane separation, solids filtration, disinfection, oxygenation, thermal hydrolysis, nutrient removal processes, chemical storage and dosing systems.
Attributes
* Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and external collaborators.
* Line‑manager responsibilities providing support to engineers and early careers.
* Experience of digital approaches to solve problems including the relevant current analysis and design software.
