Senior Contracting Solicitor

Our Office of the General Counsel advises on a wide variety of risk issues that arise in the delivery of professional services across assurance, tax, and advisory areas.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced commercial contracts lawyer for our in-house legal team. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Negotiating contracts with clients, including MSAs and public-sector frameworks, and advising on contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and others.
2. Improving our standard terms of business based on negotiation experiences and issues encountered.
3. Handling various commercial contracting issues such as:
* Advising on local-country contracts for global frameworks
* Contracts with other Grant Thornton International member firms
* Data-sharing, secondment, and software supply agreements
* Interpreting contractual provisions for colleagues
* Providing legal input on termination, non-disclosure, tendering, and disclosure agreements
1. Advising colleagues on risk management and compliance issues.
2. Providing guidance on collaboration and referral agreements.
3. Collaborating with the legal and risk teams to advise stakeholders and protect the firm.
4. Supporting and mentoring less experienced lawyers.
5. Identifying risk trends and updating templates and procedures accordingly.
6. Educating colleagues on legal and risk issues through training and guidance materials.
Candidate profile
The minimum requirements include being a qualified solicitor or barrister with:
* Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
* Knowledge of professional liability law
* Understanding of professional services contracting and risk management
* A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach
* Self-motivation and ability to manage conflicting demands
* Excellent communication skills, including drafting contractual terms
* Experience in managing and developing colleagues
