Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly experienced, values‑driven individual to join our Board as an Associate Non‑Executive Director. As an Associate Non‑Executive Director, you will bring independent judgement, strategic insight, and constructive challenge to support the Board in setting the Trust's strategic direction and maintaining the highest standards of governance.

* Senior leadership experience in primary care or related health services.
* A strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing integrated care.
* Strategic thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to influence effectively.
* The confidence to provide independent support and constructive challenge.

* A passion for improving patient outcomes and reducing health inequalities.
* Previous board experience is welcome but not essential.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Insight and understanding of primary care, community care and what is needed to successfully implement the NHS 10 year plan and neighbourhood care.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to question, constructively challenge, influence and be independent minded to ensure decisions reflect consideration to overall public benefit.
* The ability to analyse and understand complex information, situations, and to reach an objective conclusion; think clearly and creatively; plan ahead, balance needs and constraints.
* Ability to work as a team to meet common goals and willingness to utilise skills and experience for the good of the organisation.
* Willingness to maintain and uphold accountability of self and others; a high level of probity, integrity, discretion and fairness; ability to maintain confidentiality; uphold principles of effective corporate governance.
* Demonstrates a strong interest and understanding of the health care agenda with a commitment to the NHS and public sector values.
* Demonstrates a strong interest in equality and diversity and the inclusion agenda.
* Understanding of the role of an Associate Non‑Executive Director as part of the Trust's regulatory and compliance context.
* Demonstrating the highest standards of conduct as set out in the Nolan principles.
* A strong personal commitment to the Trust values.
Desirable Skills
* Ability to anticipate and exploit change.
* Knowledge of stakeholder communities and a strong commitment to, and understanding of, the needs of the local community.
* Understanding of the health inequalities agenda.
* Understanding of the digital agenda, digital innovation and digital exclusion.
* Experience of working in primary care in North East London.
* Clear knowledge of the local health and care economy.
Experience Requirements
* Experience of primary care having worked or currently working as a general practitioner.
* Experience of involvement in complex change in the NHS including delivery of clinical, quality, performance and financial outcomes.
* Evidence of providing effective strategic direction supported by knowledge of governance and how boards should add value.
* Ability to meet relevant time commitment.
* Must meet Fit and Proper Person requirements.
