Position: Policy Manager with Smart DCC
Location: London or Manchester
Compensation: Competitive Salary plus benefits
Role Overview:
The Policy Manager will enhance DCC's credibility by ensuring that it has a considered policy position on current and emerging topics relevant to DCC and the wider energy market, including fuel poverty, energy efficiency, and system flexibility. This expertise will provide a foundation for making informed choices about business strategy and medium-term plans, as well as supporting effective engagement with key external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and own specific areas of current and emerging policy, becoming the subject matter expert on these within DCC.
2. Conduct extensive scanning to create a picture of the evolving policy landscape, including identification of potential avenues for innovation funding.
3. Develop reactive responses to consultations and proactive thought leadership positions.
4. Engage with and build a network of key external stakeholders to increase awareness of DCC’s capabilities.
5. Collaborate with colleagues across DCC to share policy intelligence.
Qualifications:
1. Extensive knowledge of the energy market and current developments.
2. Experience working within or for government or a regulated business to develop policy positions.
3. Excellent research and communication skills, comfortable delivering reports and presentations at all levels.
4. Collaborative style, able to interact with colleagues and external stakeholders.
5. Well-organised with project management experience desirable.
