About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide personalised care and support to service users with learning disabilities, promoting their rights, independence, wellbeing, and choice. Your role will include assisting with personal care, medication support, household tasks, community access, and facilitating the achievement of individual goals. You will work closely with service users, families, carers, and professionals to deliver a high-quality, person-centred service within a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support personal care needs including bathing, dressing, intimate care, and continence management
* Assist with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and errands
* Encourage and support service users to participate in community activities and access local amenities
* Administer medication and ensure timely support where required
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to service monitoring and reviews
* Promote health, safety, and risk management practices at all times
* Work as an effective team member and participate in training and development opportunities
Person Specification
Essential:
* Excellent customer service skills and a caring, empathetic approach to supporting people with learning disabilities
* Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
* Ability to provide personal and intimate care with dignity and respect
* Basic IT skills and good verbal and written communication
* Commitment to person-centred care and teamwork
* Previous care experience or willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2/3
Desirable:
* Awareness of current learning disability issues and relevant legislation including Protection of Vulnerable Adults guidelines
* Ability to manage incidents of challenging behaviour
* Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to different locations
