Our client is a leading high-profile sports association with a membership of over 1,000 based across the UK and internationally.
Representing and delivering world class and best in class services the organisation has an unparalleled reputation for support and development in all areas, but particularly in the Legal arena.
As the membership grows a new role of In-House Employment Solicitor has been created to work alongside another lawyer reporting into the Board.
This small central Legal function provides expert advice and guidance on all employment matters to the membership as well as providing legal and regulatory support to the Executive Board.
About the Role:
The In-House Employment Solicitor will provide expert advice, guidance, assistance and support to the Associations membership on all employment legal, procedural and regulatory matters.
It’s a critical and important role encompassing the following areas of law:
Contract Reviews
Employment Advice
Advice on Termination / post termination obligations
General case management
Legal mentoring
Legal research and monitor trends
The span and scope of the role – multiple members, tight deadlines, plus the breadth of employment issues and scenarios - means that it is a busy and pressurised job, requiring expert organisation and the ability to juggle multiple requests and conflicting priorities.
You’ll be involved in:
Providing general employment legal advice across all levels
Reviewing and advising on employment agreements & contracts
Providing legal and regulatory educational content for the membership
Liaising and consulting with stakeholders on industry specific matters
About You:
The role calls for a highly motivated Employment Solicitor – you’ll be keen to immerse yourself in a broad range of employment legal activity. Although respected as a Professional and an Expert, you will be most effective and value-adding when partnering with members, stakeholders and partners to find compliant, practical and risk-based solutions.
You might currently be in a similar in-house role and looking for more breadth and variety, or you could be keen to move from a Legal Practice to an in-house post, wanting to partner more closely with the organisation.
Candidates need to be:
· A Qualified Solicitor – ideally with 5 years’ PQE
· Familiar with the relevant employment statutory, regulatory and common law
· Experienced in contract drafting, negotiations and contractual disputes
· Strong at relationship-building skills; with key internal stakeholders and external legal advisers
· Able to juggle a busy workload, multiple requests and a mixture of projects and routine work
A love of competitive sport is a great advantage.
In addition, we are looking for someone with the personality and drive to build strong business relationships at all levels across the organisation with the energy and drive to make a difference. Plus, the comfort in balancing the certainty of compliance, legislation, and regulations, with the ambiguity of a growing and evolving organisation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a challenging role in a growing sports organisation joining at a pivotal point in its development, and with the potential opportunity to develop your career and become part of the talent pipeline for the future.
