We have a fantastic opportunity for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) Project Commercial Manager to join our Kier Mechanical and Electrical business, delivering HMP Glasgow. This role involves overseeing a commercial team responsible for packages worth over £180M across a major custodial facility.
Location: HMP Glasgow, Royston
Hours: Full Time, Permanent. Opportunity for some flexibility / hybrid working
What will you be responsible for?
Your day-to-day may include:
* Managing the MEP commercial team, supporting performance, acting as an escalation point, and managing subcontractor relationships in line with the contract.
* Following the procurement strategy set at the start of the project.
* Valuing and measuring changes, advising on legal and contractual matters related to orders and changes.
* Administering subcontractors, including agreeing final accounts and producing notices such as commencement and payment notices.
* Preparing monthly cost reports, commercial plans, and client reports, along with progress records.
* Managing project cash flows and turnover forecasts.
* Reporting and managing risks and opportunities.
* Developing margin improvement plans and driving profitability.
* Approving material purchases, ensuring all risks and opportunities are considered.
* Updating all commercial tasks and reports monthly.
* Inducting team members into company systems and introducing new tasks, systems, and techniques.
What are we looking for?
This role is ideal if you can demonstrate:
* Qualification at degree level or HND/HNC (or similar) in Quantity Surveying.
* Experience managing and mentoring commercial teams overseeing MEP packages.
* Experience as a surveyor on various projects.
* Understanding of main contract forms like JCT, NEC, etc.
* Technical knowledge of MEP services and components.
* Strong skills in managing change effectively.
* Full UK driving license.
