Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that from 1 April 2023, candidates for roles requiring PVG membership will need to cover the cost. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above, currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour).
The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership (£18 for existing members or £59 for non-members), and this cost will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.
About the role
The EAL Team is part of the ASN & Outreach Service, providing tailored support to learners across Aberdeen City. The post holder will deliver direct and collaborative teaching, consultancy, multi-agency, and professional learning support as a peripatetic/outreach teacher. A Teacher of EAL may work in early years, primary, or secondary settings to extend support to learners and colleagues, including supporting positive transitions and sharing best practices. Experience supporting bi/multi-lingual learners is desirable but not essential.
Job purpose
To deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the professional and corporate life of the school in relation to pupils, staff, and external bodies within SNCT agreements.
Minimum requirements:
* Appropriate teaching qualification
* Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the relevant subject/sector or eligibility for registration
Demonstrable abilities:
Ability to teach the full curriculum, develop the curriculum, manage and organise classes through planning, assess and report on pupils’ progress, prepare pupils for examinations, contribute to school order and wider needs, participate in planning and improvement processes, and support professional development of colleagues including probationary and student teachers.
