What we need
Symbotic is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician at all levels. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and calibrating our automated and robotic systems, including automated adapters, vertical lifts, and robotic vehicles. You will ensure system upkeep and operations of automated adapters used to interface with the Symbotic structure, becoming the system expert in mechanical, PLC, electrical, or electronic subsystems.
What we do
Our Automation Maintenance Technician team is part of the Customer Operations organization, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. The team drives operational excellence by engaging with onsite customers to ensure quality, safety, and system performance.
What you’ll do
1. Perform inspections on systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, robotic vehicles, and adapters/lifts.
2. Lead continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.
3. Monitor the flow of the automated storage and retrieval system to maximize throughput.
4. Troubleshoot robotic vehicle anomalies and stoppages using schematics and test equipment.
5. Document all actions and repairs thoroughly in the CMMS.
6. Communicate production-impacting problems and suggested actions to the team.
7. Work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt as needed.
8. Cleanup equipment and remove replaced parts after repairs.
9. Recover automated robotic vehicles, including working in restrictive environments.
10. Perform minor utility work such as machining, cutting steel, and sensor alignment.
11. Troubleshoot, calibrate, and set up robotic arms.
12. Maintain cleanliness and adhere to 5S policies.
13. Perform Cell Operator functions as needed.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
What you’ll need
* Associate degree and/or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years experience with mechanical automation systems or equivalent training.
* Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to follow electro-mechanical diagrams.
* Ability to operate and run automated systems.
* Experience with PLC troubleshooting.
* Proficient in inspection functions.
* Ability to work independently following procedures and manuals.
Our Environment
* Climb stairs into structures and work near high railings.
* Work in environments with temperatures from 105° to 32°F.
* Wear PPE as required, including hard hats, vests, steel toes, etc.
* Lift items up to 50 lbs and move items up to 80 lbs.
* Stand, walk, and reach for extended periods.
* Work at heights up to 45 feet and in restrictive areas.
