We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Accountant to play a central role in delivering a high‑quality, comprehensive accountancy and financial management service across the Council.
In this pivotal position, you will:
• Lead and consolidate the Council’s revenue budget monitoring process, ensuring accuracy, insight and robust financial control.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager to produce the Council’s annual budget and contribute to the development of the Medium‑Term Financial Strategy, helping shape the organisation’s financial future.
• Take responsibility for key areas of financial management and accounting, applying strong technical expertise and sound professional judgement.
• Collaborate effectively with both internal and external auditors, supporting audit processes and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
• Provide direct line management and leadership within the finance team, ensuring high standards of performance and development, alongside mentoring those at the start of their career.
