6 Month Contract With A Local Auhtority
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality social work services to children in care, children subject to safeguarding plans, and families requiring support. Ensure that all statutory duties are met in line with local authority procedures and national legislation, promoting positive outcomes and safeguarding children.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough assessments of children and families, identifying risks, needs, and strengths.
* Develop, implement, and review child protection plans and care plans for children in care.
* Manage a caseload of children in line with statutory requirements and good practice standards.
* Liaise with multi-agency teams, including schools, health services, and other professionals.
* Prepare reports for legal proceedings, including care proceedings and child protection conferences.
* Advocate for children’s rights and views in planning and decision-making processes.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with statutory requirements.
* Attend and contribute to supervision, team meetings, and training sessions.
* Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and research in children’s social care.
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent recognized qualification)
* Registered with Social Work England
* Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in statutory children’s social care (or equivalent relevant PQE)
* Experience in safeguarding, child protection, or children in care
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and national frameworks, including:
o Children Act 1989 & 2004
o Working Together to Safeguard Children
o Care Planning, Placement and Case Review regulations
* Ability to assess risk and make sound professional judgements
* Strong communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
* Experience working with children in care (CIC) and care leavers
* Knowledge of family support services and early intervention strategies
* Experience with court work and legal processes
* Training or qualification in specific intervention models or frameworks
