Job Description
Role: Field Service Electrician
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
Client: Our client designs and implements the commercial use of zero emission fuels, through innovative technology and solutions, to decarbonise the global economy. They focus on developing fuel cell, green hydrogen production, and hydrogen carrier technologies, partnering with Siemens Energy to deliver renewable, zero emission energy at a large scale.
The company has experience providing zero-emissions power across various industries, including construction, film and TV production, and outdoor events, using hydrogen technology for energy generation and distribution. Current clients include Netflix, BBC, HS2, and Balfour Beatty. Following Series A investment, they seek a Field Service Electrician to work onsite, responsible for preventative maintenance, reactive services, and primarily managing Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) across UK sites.
Responsibilities:
* Work safely at all times, ensuring compliance with regulations and Safe Systems of Work
* Operate Hydrogen Power Units, including hydrogen changeovers
* Maintain and service essential electrical and mechanical systems
* Install and commission Hydrogen Power Units
* Install basic power distribution components
* Record data such as hydrogen usage and power output
* Present a professional image
* Analyze and solve complex problems
* Communicate technical issues clearly
* Utilize computer programs to generate site reports
* Perform system maintenance, electrical testing, wiring, and cable sizing
* Provide electrical support and testing certificates for power distribution
* Carry out advanced remedial and inspection works, including battery inspections
Qualifications (Required): Relevant technical qualification and training in electrical discipline (e.g., Gold card (ECS), JIB, City and Guilds)
Desirable: CCNSG, CSCS, IOSH Working Safely V5.0a, First Aid, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Fire Awareness, A Levels, 18th edition (BS 7671), NVFCL, safety-critical medical.
Experience:
* Problem solving and independent decision-making skills
* Experience working on high-profile sites
* Basic computer skills
* Repair and commissioning of electromechanical equipment
* Experience with low/medium voltage equipment and high-pressure gas systems
* Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision
* Knowledge of PLCs, transformers, inverters, UPS, AC/DC systems, and battery systems
