Position: CRED Supervisor
Location: HMP Albany, 55 Parkhurst Rd, Newport, IOW. PO30 5RS
Salary: £36,066.96 per annum
Contract: Full time - Permanent - 39hrs per week - Mon-Fri
We are seeking a dedicated CRED Supervisor to join our team at HMP Albany, a Category B, adult male prison. The role involves supporting a diverse range of skilled workers and playing a key part in creating a safe, nurturing environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.
Responsibilities
As a CRED Supervisor, you will:
* Mentor and support staff, fostering collaboration and positive outcomes.
* Advocate for fair treatment and opportunities for all, including prisoners engaged in maintenance projects.
* Plan, coordinate and supervise small‑scale refurbishment and maintenance works within the prison estate.
* Build, uphold and implement initiatives that support prisoner rehabilitation through constructive work experience.
* Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including other trades and prison staff.
Qualifications
* Understanding of prisons and prisoner working systems or willingness to learn – Desirable.
* Ability to use tools and equipment to complete small‑scale refurbishments – Essential.
* Knowledge of health and safety principles and their application – Essential.
* Experience managing small‑scale refurbishment projects – Essential.
* Experience supervising staff – Essential.
* Self‑motivated with a positive “can‑do” approach – Desirable.
* Experience managing relationships with various stakeholders – Desirable.
* Trade or building qualification (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrics) – Desirable.
* If you do not hold a trade or building qualification, demonstrable experience is essential.
