About the role

Our organisation operates in a cloud based environment hosted primarily by Microsoft. In this role you will work alongside another Network and Security Engineer to manage and maintain Primary ITO’s cybersecurity infrastructure. This involves:

5. Designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect out IT infrastructure and data.
6. Monitoring networks and systems for threats and managing and refining incident response plans.
7. Conducting vulnerability checks, penetration testing, and applying patches and updates.
8. Identifying and addressing security risks using advanced tools and industry best practice.
9. Supporting with infrastructure security projects and providing technical guidance to users and the wider Digital team.
10. Keeping up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
11. Contributing to the development of clear, accessible materials that help staff understand and stay engaged with their role in maintaining security.

In this role you will also support the wider team by administering phishing queries, supporting with vendor queries, login queries, SharePoint queries, escalated helpdesk queries, and the shared mailbox tidy up.

This is a fixed-term role for 24 months, ideally based at our offices in Hamilton with some flexibility to work from home. We are happy to consider locations across New Zealand for the right candidate.

About you

We are looking for someone with practiced skills and experience in cybersecurity and systems administration.

Ideally you will bring:

12. Proficiency in managing Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, Azure, EntraID, Purview and common enterprise security tools.
13. Knowledge of industry security standards and frameworks.
14. Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate.
15. A strong understanding of network protocols, endpoint protection, firewalls and VPN management.
16. Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
17. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a close-knit team environment.
