About the role
Applicants wanted to work with a 5 year old boy with developmental delays.
This young man has been described by family members as very cheeky, has a lovely smile and is a very quick learner. This young man is currently learning sign language and although only at the beginning, has picked up various signs really quickly. The family state that he loves Bradley Walsh, so anything to do with him will get this young man’s attention! He loves to go out into the community with people he trusts, however trust may need to be built up within the home environment first.
He enjoys going out for long walks in nature, running around open spaces and being active. This young man will do anything to be outdoors! He also loves spending time at the seaside.
This young man struggles with his mobility, although he can walk, he can become unsteady on his feet and will require some support to ensure he does not fall over. He needs someone to provide constant supervision to ensure his safety as he does not have any awareness of danger. He is building on his communication and therefore needs some support in communicating his wishes and needs effectively.
He needs support with his personal care whilst out in the community.
This young man is looking for someone who can take him out in nature and keep up with his very active lifestyle. He needs someone who feels confident in setting boundaries and sticking to these as this young man finds structure necessary to feel secure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Encouraging the recipient to engage in activities.

2. Settling and supporting the individual.
3. Keeping them safe in the community.
4. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
5. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
6. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
About the candidate
The suitable candidate must:
7. Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
8. Be patient, caring and understanding.
9. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
10. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
11. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
