Highly Specialist Pharmacist Technical Services & Haematology
An exciting opportunity for a 12‑month fixed term post at North Bristol NHS Trust. This role provides clinical pharmacy services to haematology, supports technical services, and contributes to teaching, guideline development and audits.
Key Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day provision of clinical pharmacy services to the haematology directorate, including outpatients, inpatients and the chemotherapy day unit.
* Work closely with the haematology multidisciplinary team, contributing to teaching, guideline development, and clinical audits.
* Support the Principal Pharmacist in leading the Technical Services team, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery and implementing improved ways of working.
* Participate in regional/national workstreams such as the 'Assurance of Aseptic Preparation of Medicines' Audit and Aseptic Services Transformation.
* Provide support for non‑medical prescribing clinics.
* Assist with the build and maintenance of the electronic chemotherapy prescribing system (ChemoCare®).
* Act as an “Authorised Pharmacist” and deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist where required.
* Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice and other quality standards.
* Provide training, mentoring and supervision to staff within Technical Services.
* Participate in late‑night, weekend and bank holiday rotas.
Requirements
Education / Training / Qualifications
* UK registered Pharmacist.
* Clinical diploma or recognised postgraduate qualification.
* Evidence of CPD and revalidation.
Work Experience
* UK hospital pharmacy experience.
* Relevant clinical pharmacy experience (haematology or oncology).
* Experience working within Technical Services.
* Audit and quality system experience.
* Experience in teaching or supporting learning.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage time and prioritise effectively.
* Clinical knowledge in haematology or oncology.
* Basic knowledge of Good Clinical Practice.
* Relevant IT skills (ECDL level or equivalent).
* Working knowledge of GMP and other standards.
* Proactive approach to applying specialist pharmaceutical knowledge to enhance patient care.
