Primary Objective


The Operational Director is responsible for the strategic and effective leadership of the operational functions within MSP. This role ensures that all operational activities are aligned with the company’s objectives, values, and long-term strategic direction. The post-holder will lead and manage the planning, execution, and optimisation of operational processes across production, project delivery, logistics, and supply chain to drive business performance and ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities


The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks:


Strategic Planning:

* Working directly with the M.D, Develop and implement integrated strategic plans that optimise operational efficiency across production and software engineering.
* Prioritise sustainability practices that minimise environment impact and align with Multi-Source Power’s commitment to clean energy solutions


Continuous product development:

* Working with the Managing Director and all in house and external teams, design, assembly, manufacturing, existing and new product.


Production Oversight:

* Manage end-to-end production processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, modular BESS units.
* Focus on scalability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to environmental standards.


Software Engineering Integration:

* Align with the development and integration of Software solutions to ensure the functionality and user experience of our BESS.
* Ensure seamless collaboration between software and hardware team.


Process Optimisation and Innovation:

* Critically assess existing production and software development processes to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
* Leverage data-driven insights and sector-specific innovation to implement streamlined, scalable solutions that enhance system performance, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement across the full life cycle of our energy storage solutions.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

* Foster seamless collaboration between production and software engineering teams to ensure cohesive development and deployment of Multi Source Power’s modular energy storage systems.
* Align workflows, communication, and shared goals to accelerate product delivery, maintain high-quality standards, and support system interoperability across all applications.


Performance Management:

* Define and implement key performance indicators (KPI) tailored to both production and software functions, focusing on quality, efficiency, uptime, and environmental impact.
* Establish real-time monitoring systems and reporting frameworks to track departmental performance, identify trends, and drive a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement across all operational areas.


Resource Management:

* Effectively allocate and manage resources across production and software engineering-encompassing workforce, equipment, and materials-to ensure optimal utilisation, minimal

waste, and cost efficiency.

* Align resource planning with project timelines and sustainability objectives to support scalable growth and high-performance delivery of energy storage solutions


Risk Management:

* Identify operational, technical, and environmental risk across production and software systems. Develop and implement proactive mitigation strategies to minimise disruption, protect critical infrastructure and ensure continuity and resilience of energy storage operations in both on and off-grid environments.


Compliance and Quality Assurance:

* Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, environmental standards and industry certifications relevant to energy storage and software integration.
* Embed quality assurance protocols throughout production and development lifecycles to uphold product reliability, safety, and operational excellence.


Team Leadership and Development:

* Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and environmental responsibility.


Stakeholder Engagement:

* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers and regulatory bodies, to promote sustainable practices and drive operational excellence

To be effective in this role the Operational director will need to:

* Carrying out quality checks of design submitted by design partners and provide relevant feedback.


Person Specification


To be successful in this role the Operational director will:


* Hold a full driving license help for a minimum of 12 months with no more than 6 points.
* Experience in a senior operational leadership role.
* Demonstrable success in leading multi-functional operational teams preferably within the energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget and P&L responsibility.
* Expertise in operational strategy, process optimisation, and change management.
* Comprehensive understanding of HSQE requirements and regulatory compliance.
* Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
* Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards, with a commitment to upholding compliance and quality assurance.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
* Results-oriented with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes and delivering results.
* Innovative and forward-thinking, with a passion for driving continuous improvement and implementing new ideas.

* DBS check to be completed prior to start date.
* A legal right to work in the UK.


Education, Qualification and Certification


Desired Experience and Qualifications:

* Strong background in manufacturing/production operations and software engineering environments, with the ability to bridge technical and operational disciplines.
* Demonstrated success in implementing process optimisation, resource planning, and performance management systems in complex, fast-moving settings.
* Experience in developing and executing strategic operational plans that balance cost-efficiency, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
* Deep understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks, industry certifications (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and safety standards relevant to energy systems.
* Track record of leading teams through continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean, six sigma, or agile methodology.
* Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS), energy management software, or related energy infrastructure technologies in highly desirable.
* Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
* Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field. A relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
