Job Overview
An accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers and internal and external agencies (e.g. Local Authority, Third Sector, CAIS) in order to: provide a safe and efficient patient pathway and provide information and appropriate support to families and carers.
The post holder will ensure the delivery of a comprehensive high-quality medical secretarial and administrative service to the consultant, doctor and junior medical team and specialist nursing teams, other health professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for the guidance and direction of the team dealing with appropriate day‑to‑day issues to oversee the smooth running of the department and provide support to the line manager.
Main Duties of the Job
To provide a comprehensive, high-quality medical secretarial and administrative service to the consultant's medical team and specialist nursing teams, and other health professionals. To coordinate and maintain arrangements to facilitate patients' progression along a defined pathway. To maintain the office organisation and monitor the workload related to the administration team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria – Qualifications and / or Knowledge
* NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience or City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration or equivalent medical secretary experience.
* ILM Level 2 Team Leader, or willingness to work towards and achieve within 2 years, or relevant equivalent experience.
* RSA/OCR Level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in typing.
* ECDL or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
* Evidence of continuous personal development.
Desirable Criteria – Management and Customer Service
* Management qualification or working towards.
* NVQ Level 3 Customer Service.
* Knowledge of Referral to Treatment process (RTT).
Essential Criteria – Experience
* Experience coordinating administration and clerical activities.
* Experience working as a medical secretary.
* Experience organising workload and people.
Desirable Criteria – Experience
* Previous NHS experience.
* Experience producing graphs and statistics.
