Lloyd’s Register Location: will consider applicants in multiple locations, including United Kingdom, Republic of Korea and Canada What We’re Looking For As a Lead Specialist in Submarine Structures, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining LR’s Submarine Assurance Framework and supporting LR’s submarine business. You will apply your deep technical expertise of submarine structures to ensure our framework reflects current best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements. You will also contribute specialist knowledge to projects providing commercially focused support and service delivery. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of structural assurance approaches for naval surface ships, supporting LR’s strategic expansion in defence and government sectors. Provide expert input on pressure hull design, corrosion, fatigue, loading, and watertight integrity assessments. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across commercial, advisory, and service delivery teams. Provide training and support to service delivery colleagues Engage with external stakeholders including shipyards, defence clients, and regulatory bodies. Monitor industry trends, research, and innovation to inform framework evolution. Represent LR in international technical committees and working groups. Support cross-functional projects involving naval surface ship structures. Mentor colleagues and contribute to LR’s knowledge-sharing culture. What You Bring Degree-qualified in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline. CEng or equivalent Extensive experience in submarine structural design. Strong understanding of pressure hull design principles, structural mechanics, and relevant standards Proficiency in structural analysis tools (e.g., FEA software). Excellent communication and technical writing skills. Preferred But Not Required Experience in structural analysis for naval surface platforms. Experience in assurance framework development or technical policy formulation. Familiarity with naval certification processes. Participation in international technical forums or standards bodies. A collaborative mindset and passion for technical excellence.
