We are a specialist residential care home supporting 41 male residents living with Korsakoff's syndrome, alcohol-related brain damage, and other complex mental health conditions. Our service is dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care that supports dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Due to growing needs and internal development, we are currently seeking a committed and experienced Care Worker to join our dedicated and compassionate team.
This role is for day shifts with occasional nights. You will average 39 hours a week over an 8 week rota.
The Role
As a Care Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering daily support to our residents, many of whom live with cognitive and behavioural challenges. Your day-to-day duties will include:
* Providing personal care and support with daily living tasks
* Building therapeutic relationships with residents based on trust and empathy
* To provide on-going support, through key-working to help residents achieve and enjoy a good quality of life and, where possible, to become integrated into the local community, to deliver recovery orientated services, increasing opportunities for life beyond illness,
* Supporting residents with routines, activities, and engagement
* Promoting independence and choice wherever possible
* Managing behaviours that may challenge, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies
* Assisting with documentation and care plans in line with CQC regulations
* To always maintain confidentiality and the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in accordance with the agreed policy
* To undertake any other duties as seen necessary by the Management Team
Requirements
* Experience working in residential care, preferably with individuals who have Korsakoff's syndrome, dementia, or mental health conditions
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
* Experience administering medication
* Understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding principles
* Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
