Plumpton College is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and industry-experienced Lecturer in Wine to join our specialist team.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of winemakers and viticulturists, supporting students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a globally significant and evolving industry.
About The Role
As a Lecturer in Wine, you will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, supporting students to maximise their potential and achieve successful outcomes in their studies and future careers.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in either wine science including wine chemistry, production, analysis and statistics or viticulture including grapevine biology, physiology, vine balance, rootstock selection and yield forecasting.
You Will
* Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons to a consistently good or outstanding standard.
* Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback to support progress and achievement.
* Monitor attendance and maintain accurate registers.
* Use schemes of work and lesson plans effectively in line with College processes.
* Apply your industry experience to contextualise learning and enhance student engagement.
* Use modern technology and digital tools, including the VLE, to support teaching and learning.
* Mark and assess work, including multiple-choice assessments, in line with awarding organisation requirements.
* Monitor student progress and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Share best practice and celebrate student success within the team.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and student-focused individual with strong subject expertise and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
Essential
* Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification (or equivalent).
* Strong industry experience and/or specialist subject knowledge in wine or viticulture.
* Level 2 (or higher) qualification in English and Maths.
* Ability to deliver (or the potential to deliver) teaching to a consistently good or outstanding standard.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong IT skills and ability to use digital tools to enhance learning.
* A collaborative approach and commitment to working within a high-performing team.
* Clear understanding of student welfare, safeguarding and inclusive practice.
* Flexible, adaptable and solution-focused approach.
Desirable
* Experience of teaching and learning.
