Why this job matters
We are looking for a Data Science & AI Specialist to obtain value from the full range of all BT data sets using advanced DS and AI models. In this role, you will design, build, deploy, and operationalise AI and ML models within the AWS ecosystem, combining strong software engineering practices with data science knowledge, leveraging SageMaker’s full suite of tools to manage the entire ML lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the extraction and analysis of mobile data through ML & AI techniques to generate insights for decision-making across the business or to embed in new products and services.
* Drive model development, including data exploration, training data, feature extraction, validation and scoring.
* Develop insightful visualisations to make sophisticated analyses accessible to a broad audience.
* Lead initiatives related to fairness, ethics, interpretability, safety, robustness, and privacy in AI & ML.
* Leverage Amazon SageMaker capabilities (Studio, Pipelines, Endpoints) to streamline building, training, evaluating, and deploying models at scale.
* Implement and maintain robust MLOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, monitoring for drift and performance, automated retraining.
* Collaborate on data acquisition, preprocessing, feature engineering, and analysis to prepare large datasets for model training.
* Identify opportunities and implement SageMaker ML techniques to derive business insights.
* Contribute to development of ML guidelines, policies, and architecture that support scalable pipelines.
* Drive new data set sourcing, transformation and preparation from BT platforms to build foundational data models for data science, analytics and ML.
The Skills You’ll Need
* 2-3+ years of proven success in applying Data Science or developing AI and ML models (mandatory).
* Experience with AWS cloud services for scalable AI & data solutions (mandatory).
* Programming in Python/Java and strong knowledge of AI/ML libraries (mandatory).
* Solid understanding of software architecture, data modelling, and data structures.
* Knowledge of data governance to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
* Comprehensive understanding of ethical considerations in AI and ability to develop fair and responsible solutions.
* Research skills to stay up-to-date with the latest AI trends and techniques.
* Excellent communication skills, able to share ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
* Experience leading, managing, or coaching technical teams, whether as a line manager or not.
