Plumpton College is seeking a compassionate, motivated and student-focused Lecturer in Foundation Learning to support young people who face a range of barriers to education and employment.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to students' lives by delivering high-quality teaching, using trauma-informed approaches, and supporting learners to build confidence, skills and positive progression pathways.


About the Role

As a Lecturer in Foundation Learning, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, learning and assessment to students on foundation programmes. You will support learners' academic, personal and social development, helping them to develop readiness for study, employment and independent life.

Using a holistic and trauma-informed approach, you will help students feel safe, supported and valued, enabling them to make sustained progress and achieve their individual goals.


Responsibilities

* Plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons that meet individual learner needs
* Carry out initial assessments and maintain accurate Individual Learning Plans
* Adapt teaching to support SEND learners, including those with EHCPs
* Embed English, maths and personal development skills within teaching
* Track progress using RARPA and other college systems, taking action where progress is at risk
* Act as a cohort lead, providing tutorials, setting targets and supporting progression
* Work closely with parents/carers and cross-college support teams
* Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and student wellbeing
* Contribute to quality improvement, self-assessment and curriculum development
* Support recruitment, enrolment, induction and transition activities, helping students make a positive start at college


Essential Qualifications

* Degree or relevant professional qualification (or equivalent)
* Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
* Level 2 (or above) qualification in English and maths
* Strong understanding of SEND, EHCPs and current or upcoming reforms
* Knowledge of barriers affecting young people's access to education and employment
* Experience of, or commitment to, trauma-informed practice
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong IT skills and the ability to work flexibly in a fast‑paced environment
* A collaborative approach and commitment to student success


Desirable Qualifications

* Safeguarding or SEND-related training
* Training in trauma-informed or adapted practices
