Medical Secretary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Medical Secretary within the Rheumatology team at Southend Hospital.
This challenging position requires someone who is a team player, flexible, organised and can work well under pressure. The post holder will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and clinical team. As a medical secretary, you will be the first point of contact for patients, doctors, and staff throughout the Trust.
This position requires excellent communication skills, dedication to exceptional patient care and service, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment and be able to represent their team and department with the professionalism expected from all our staff.
Please note we are unable to sponsor this post and this post is a fixed term contract for 12 months from start date.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities will be to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and their team and support with the demands of the service as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Competent in Microsoft package (Word/Excel)
* GCSE or equivalent in maths and English
* Proven experience of working as a secretary/personal assistant/administrator in a busy environment
* Understanding medical terminology
* Previous NHS experience
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of undertaking diary management for consultants/senior managers
* Understanding medical terminology

* Experience using Trust computer systems
Communication Skills
* Comprehensive command and understanding of English language, punctuation, and grammar.
* Deal with patient enquiries using own judgment
