Ashfield District Council are excited to offer permanent positions in the Environmental Health Commercial and Environmental Protection team.
We are looking to recruit two Environmental Health Officer – Commercial Food and Health & Safety,
37 hours per week £36,648 - £39,186 per annum
A full time Graduate Environmental Health Officer.
Full time post of 37 hours a week on a salary of £26,421 - £28,770 per annum.
As well as an Environmental Protection Officer –Land/Permits.
Part time post of 18 ½ hours a week on a salary of £29,777 - £32,076 per annum (pro rata)

About you
As an EHO applicant, you are a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner/ Officer (holding an EHRB Certificate or hold CIEH chartered or registered status) or a qualified graduate who holds a CIEH accredited BSc or MSc in Environmental Health and has almost completed the CIEH’s Chartered Practitioner Programme or registration process *
You are acommitted but flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic team player and looking to work in busy, high-profile environment delivering commercial food, health and safety and some licensing objectives. You can monitor and manage your own casework, make timely decisions, and deliver agreed outcomes. You have a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and possess excellent verbal and written communication. In addition, you have excellent negotiation skills, and an ability to explain legislative procedures and requirements to a wide audience. A demonstrable record of experience in food safety and health and safety at work are essential criteria for this position.
*Applicants who are not EHRB registered or do not have Chartered status will start on a lower grade and accompanying salary until they become chartered or registered.
As our next Graduate Environmental Health Officer, you have successfully completed your CIEH Accredited BSc (H) or master’s degree in environmental health, so we know you are self-motivated and enthusiastic. You are a team player, and possess excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills and can demonstrate your experience of dealing with people from all different walks of life. The ability to converse and provide information, advice and instruction is an essential requirement.
You are excited to be offered this opportunity and committed towards achieving registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner/Officer within 2 years of starting your role.
Whilst completing your practical training requirements, you understand you will be responsible for your own case load across all work areas of Environmental Health Commercial and Environmental Protection, with experienced officers supporting and mentoring you.
As an Environmental Protection Officer, you are an enthusiastic and motivated individual with knowledge of legislation and regulations and will have responsibility for a varied case load, covering all aspects of environmental protection, including the investigation of complaints, inspections, providing advice, and taking relevant enforcement action where necessary. You will have a senior Environmental Health Officer, specialising in EP to consult with and support you.
As with the other posts; you are a team player, and possess excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills and can demonstrate your experience of dealing with people from all different walks of life.
