Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Engineer - Lifting (contract). The role will be working at the Redcar site office on an energy transition project.
The Role
As a Construction Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing all lifting and transport operations work that will be executed by the PCC Main Contractor and their supply chain.
The role will include interface management during design, constructability reviews and interfacing with other Client discipline leads to ensure that all Project milestones are achieved. Alignment and interface will be required with the overseas module yards to ensure issue-free load in.

Responsibilities
* Responsible for oversight of the Heavy Lift & Transport (HLT) scope and general lifting operations on site to Completion & Ready for Commissioning start-up
* Oversight of mobilisation, rigging, testing, operation and de-rigging of cranes across the onshore scope and de-rigging of tower lift systems
* Oversight of Heavy Transport operations including Load In, quay side operations and transport to and on site
* Coordination and review (where necessary) of applicable lifting and transport plans as per Project lift planning requirements
* Verify that heavy lifts, load-in, and transport operations are performed in accordance with approved plans and that equipment utilised is fit for purpose and that personnel performing operations are competent to do so
* Ensuring that Heavy Lift, general lifting and transport operations are planned and in accordance with the Client procedures, industry best practice and Project requirements including:
o Providing HLT support and expertise to the Project team on site
o Coordinate with Company engineers to resolve engineering technical queries, deviations, change requests
o Coordinate with lifting supervisors and the project lifting engineer to ensure end to end compliance and safe operations that are well planned and coordinated
o Ensuring all HLT project deliverables are executed and handed over according to project HSE requirements
o Oversee vendors when on site and ensure Contractor obtains and issues all vendor close out reports
o Ensure all Daily / Weekly / Monthly work status reporting is issued in accordance with Contract requirements (by the Contractor)
o Monitoring Contractors technical compliance and quality standards including raising NCR's if appropriate
o Oversee Lifting and transport operations
o Undertake SV&O activities on all cranage and lifting operations on site including rigging lofts and small cranes
o Coordinate and communicate with Contractor Engineering to resolve technical problems
o Ensuring that heavy lift equipment is delivered, assembled, tested, operated and de-rigged in accordance with the Project requirements
o Support and Collaborate with the Contractor engineering design team to ensure Contractor properly implements design change
o Review Contractors Method Statements to ensure safety, delivery and quality of construction work
o Ensure that the engineering response to the TQ'S are expedited and Contractor implements changes / corrections on site
o Support Construction schedule from area construction to system / sub system completion
o Identification and mitigation of project specific HLT risks
o Capture, communicate, and apply lessons learned and best practices to ensure value is maximized
o Ensure that the 'Management of Change' system is implemented and executed as per Project lifting procedures
o Carry out routine audits on generic lift plans, and execution on site, ensuring compliance with Project lifting procedures
Qualifications

* HNC (Level 4 NVQ) or higher
* Appointed Person - CPCS A61 NPORS N401
* Extensive construction management planning and execution experience
* Multidiscipline experience of construction execution in major EPC / PMC / IPMT projects
* Demonstrable experience of crawler cranes >1000t with superlift
* Lifting towers / strand jack systems
* Jacking and skidding
* SPMT Transport of modules >1000t
* Load out / load in of modules >1000t using roll on / roll off or heavy lift ships
* UK regulations and compliance
* A good understanding of the key value drivers of projects that relate to construction and the ability to drive competitiveness without a detrimental impact on safety or quality
Desirable:
* Ability to work across multiple project elements / have a basic understanding of multi disciplines
