Position title - Operations Manager (Acting GM Level)
Position Overview -
We are looking for an Operations Manager who is ready to step up and take on broader responsibility, including leading the day-to-day running of a hotel.
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotels daily operation, ensuring departments run smoothly and deliver a consistent, high standard of service.
This is a hands-on role with significant on-site responsibility, where you will act as the senior leader on property. You will take ownership of operations, team leadership, and overall performance, balancing guest experience with strong organisational and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities Hotel Operations Oversee the daily running of all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage
Ensure smooth coordination between departments to deliver a consistent guest experience
Maintain high standards across service, cleanliness, and presentation
Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and support the hotel team on a day-to-day basis
Manage staffing levels, rotas, and performance
Recruit, train, and develop team members where required
Foster a positive, hands-on working culture
Guest Experience Ensure excellent service standards across all guest touchpoints
Handle guest feedback and resolve issues effectively
Be visible on the floor during key service periods
Commercial & Financial Awareness Support the management of hotel performance, including revenue, costs, and labour
Work with the wider business on budgeting and forecasting
Monitor key performance indicators such as occupancy, rate, and guest satisfaction
Reporting & Systems Maintain regular reporting in line with company requirements (including basic P&L tracking and performance reporting)
Use company systems and tools (e.g. Excel, PMS, HR systems such as BrightHR) to support operations
Ensure timely and accurate communication with head office
Operational Improvement Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery
Implement company standards and best practices across the hotel
Support sales and marketing initiatives where needed
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in hotel operations at a senior level (Operations Manager, Deputy GM, or similar)
Ready to take on increased responsibility and step into a leadership role on property
Hands-on approach with strong leadership and team management skills
Customer-focused with a passion for delivering high service standards
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Commercially aware, with an understanding of hotel performance drivers
Comfortable using systems and working with reporting (Excel and hotel systems)
Adaptable, proactive, and able to work independent
