Job description
To provide the highest standard of care and support to our clients to enhance their wellbeing and to promote independence. Your care duties for each individual client will be stated in their Care Plan and may vary depending on the client’s needs and time of visit. Occasionally other care duties may arise that aren’t included below, and you will need to adapt to these as required. There are certain qualities that we expect all our carers to have.
Responsibilities
* To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of clients in a way that respects their dignity and promotes independence. The care provided is similar to that which would reasonably be given by a family member and will not involve tasks normally provided by a trained nurse.
* To assist clients who need help with getting in and out of bed, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and personal care needs.
* To help clients with mobility and moving & handling needs.
* To care for clients who are temporarily sick and may need assistance with minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding, and personal care.
* To help care for end-of-life clients.
* To promote mental and physical wellbeing by talking with clients, taking them out, and assisting with activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
* To undertake light household tasks (e.g., making/changing beds, tidying rooms, light cleaning, vacuuming, and emptying commodes).
* To assist with washing clothes and ironing if requested.
* To prepare and serve meals; assist clients with eating and drinking; wash up, tidy and clean the kitchen and dining area.
* To greet clients' friends and family and answer the telephone as needed at the client’s home.
* To read and write reports and take part in staff and client meetings and training activities as directed.
* To maintain high hygiene standards and use PPE; report illnesses to the office for appropriate infection prevention and control procedures.
* To comply with Radfield Home Care’s guidelines and policies at all times.
* To report significant changes in a client’s health or circumstances to the office.
* To encourage clients to remain as independent as possible.
* To report any events or situations that may pose a risk to clients, relatives or staff (e.g., faulty equipment or unsafe steps).
* To help promote Radfield Home Care through marketing activities which may include leafleting and protecting the company’s reputation.
* To come into the office at least once a week to collect and bring in client paperwork and to collect your rota and client information.
* To perform other duties as reasonably required.
* It is essential that you are able to work shifts on at least alternate weekends.
