Overview

The Bournemouth Older Persons Community Mental Health Team are looking for an experienced Community Mental Health Nurse to join the team for 12-months maternity cover.

As a Mental Health Nurse, you will provide a comprehensive, accessible and responsive mental health service to adults and their families within a defined locality. This is primarily a care-coordination role, responsible for supporting patients on their journey of recovery. You should be a committed, dynamic, motivated professional with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your work. You should have relevant and recent experience of working in a mental health environment and be able to apply the philosophies of engagement and recovery in your work with patients, their carers and their families.

You will work as part of a well-established supportive team made up of a Psychiatrist, Nurses, Psychologists, a Social Worker, Administration and a Support Time Recovery Worker. We offer peer support led by psychology and regular management and clinical supervision to enable you to feel safe in your practice whilst further developing your skills.

This role is full-time and you will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car, as you will be required to assess and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings.


Responsibilities

* Provide a comprehensive, accessible and responsive mental health service to older adults and their families within a defined locality.
* Support the team leader and locality service manager in the implementation of the Dorset Healthcare Mental Health Strategy.
* Continuously develop clinical, team and service evaluation and delivery of service.
* Contribute to effective multidisciplinary working within the community mental health service and build effective liaison with community, primary, and other secondary and tertiary services/agencies to provide holistic care based on individual need.


Qualifications and skills

* Relevant and recent experience of working in a mental health environment.
* Ability to apply engagement and recovery philosophies in work with patients, carers and families.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to prioritise work.
* Full driving licence and use of a car.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

This is a fixed-term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.
