An exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Design Coordinator to join Tetra Tech’s successful and versatile team. This is a unique chance to become part of the growing Design Management team working on varied commissions.
Reporting directly to the Technical Director for Design Management, you will lead and manage Tetra Tech's design consultants and subconsultants on projects. Your primary focus will be delivering projects within the Midlands and Southern regions, as well as the wider UK Engineering teams. With support from the Design Manager, you will liaise with the project controls team to manage the commercial aspects of the design, aligning design risks with commercial outcomes. You will lead technical risk management and mitigation efforts for clients on large, multidisciplinary projects in sectors such as defence, science, nuclear, and government property.
Pre-Contract, Including Work Winning and Tenders
* Assist the Design Manager and bid/project teams in supporting bid processes, coordinating multi-disciplinary design inputs.
* Contribute to fee proposals and proposal documents as required.
* Ensure compliance from project outset with Tetra Tech’s Project Lifecycle governance.
* Develop and manage the Project Execution Plan with discipline leads, including design deliverables and timelines.
Live Projects
Overview
* Support the Design Manager in managing multidisciplinary teams to produce coordinated design solutions within agreed timelines and budgets.
* Ensure timely, accurate, and viable design information, reviewing and challenging received information.
* Facilitate workshops to coordinate design solutions and implement effective design strategies.
* Conduct risk management reviews and contribute to the project risk register.
* Produce progress reports as needed.
* Ensure compliance with the Project Lifecycle and Project Execution Plan at all design stages.
Financial and Reporting
* Coordinate design activities within the agreed commercial framework.
* Manage project risks proactively, including mitigation strategies.
* Understand and manage contract variations and change control processes.
* Assist with project forecasting, payments, and invoicing in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Systems and Quality
* Support the production of designs compliant with relevant regulations and approvals.
* Coordinate design information to meet project schedules.
Controls
* Implement and support project-specific design management protocols.
* Manage document control processes in line with company and client procedures.
* Coordinate with consultants and third-party specialists.
* Lead design coordination meetings and workshops when required.
* Participate in and contribute to client review meetings.
About You
* Previous experience as a Design Coordinator preferred.
* Enthusiastic, professional, and adaptable with strong communication skills.
* Committed to health and safety practices.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT tools.
* Eligible for security clearance (minimum SC level).
* Located in Midlands/South of England with flexibility to travel.
