Specific Hours: 20 hours per week - shift pattern
Unqualified Basic Salary: £13,228.80 pro rata (£27,781.80 FTE) per annum with a potential to earn up to £16,486.08 with sleep-in shifts
Qualified Basic Salary: £13,676 pro rata (£28,719.60 FTE) per annum with a potential to earn up to £16,933.28 with sleep-in shifts.
(Qualified Care Worker salary is based on the proven existing completion of a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare)
North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.
As a Residential Support Worker, high standards are expected. You should be "strong, committed, and passionate" about your role. The young people are at the heart of everything we do—both for and with them. You will be a role model, a listening ear, warm, approachable, and potentially someone who can inspire and make a significant impact on a young person's life. You need to promote, support, and facilitate the creation of "happy memories" and have fun with them.
We are seeking permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who believe they can make a meaningful impact on a young person's life, especially in their recovery from early life experiences.
Main Duties
Each home has detailed shift planners/diaries/handover documents outlining specific daily duties and tasks, which vary between term-time and holiday periods. A summary of some duties during term-time includes:
* Supporting boys' daily routines, including getting them up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, school runs, or activities
* Supporting room cleans, developing life skills and independence, promoting socialization, and supporting bed-time routines
* Attending medical and other appointments
* Supporting activity plans
* Completing day sheets and working with boys on their targets
* Completing all daily paperwork
* Conducting daily room checks and house cleaning tasks
* Handling shopping, meal preparation, and kitchen hygiene/laundry duties
* Performing specific checks such as COSHH, fire checks, and vehicle checks
* Building relationships with families, noting special dates, and planning family contacts
As a Keyworker, you will build strong bonds, show warmth, empathy, and genuine care, creating special occasions and opportunities for the boys.
All Applicants Must Have:
* Flexibility in availability, including sleep-in nights and shift work of 14 hours, typically 2 days on, 2 days off, with start times of 08:00, 12:00, or 14:00
* An understanding of issues facing young people in care
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards it
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Willingness to learn
* Ability to work well in a small team
* Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
* Experience with Emotional Behavioral Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous
* Full, clean UK driving license and flexibility to cover other Residential Homes as needed
