A leading Tier 1 design & build contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Pre-Con Manager / Technical Director to strengthen their London team. This is a strategic, client-facing role suited to someone who thrives at the intersection of estimating, design, commercial strategy, and pitching - and wants genuine ownership of major projects. You’ll be joining one of the most respected names in the industry, supporting the front end of projects ranging from £500k to £15m, with a particular focus on CAT A, CAT B and education environments. Expect autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to shape how projects are won and delivered. What You’ll Be Doing: Leading the full pre-construction process—from early design to tender submission and contract award Working closely with design, commercial and sales teams to build robust, deliverable proposals Owning the costing and estimating strategy, ensuring accurate budgets and commercially sound solutions Preparing tenders that are buildable, competitive, and aligned with delivery requirements Pitching to clients with confidence (or developing into a client-facing role if this is the step you want next) Providing technical insight to guide the design team, ensuring innovative yet cost-effective options Developing strong relationships with clients throughout the pre-con journey Supporting continuous improvement of process, pricing strategy, and bid management Your skill set: Proven experience in pre-construction, technical, estimating or commercial roles within D&B Strong commercial awareness and the ability to produce accurate, competitive tenders Confident presenting to clients, or motivated to develop into a pitching role Experience working with both design teams and sales to build integrated solutions A track record of producing tenders that deliver smoothly on site and hand over successfully Ability to influence project strategy and guide technical decision-making at early stages Strong communicator with client-facing experience and collaborative mindset Key details: Up to £120,000 salary 1% commission on won projects (£30-50k per year) Work on high-spec office and education projects up to £15m Join a Tier 1 D&B team with clear progression into more senior technical or leadership roles High-impact position with visibility across the organisation If you’re a senior pre-con professional looking for a role where your expertise directly shapes project success, and your contributions are genuinely valued. let's have a chat to discuss in more depth
