Working Hours: Dayshift About the Role:
We are seeking a driven and experienced Process Engineer to support our rolling mill operations within a leading manufacturing site in Scarborough. This role is essential to ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our production processes, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and technical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain the functionality and compliance of all safety guarding and protective systems on site.
* Perform routine and reactive maintenance, machine setups, and adjustments on roll-forming equipment to reduce downtime and boost operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with Production Supervisors to ensure maintenance and process improvement tasks are carried out promptly to minimise disruption.
* Liaise with subcontractors, ensuring all site Health & Safety protocols are followed.
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults within rolling equipment, identifying root causes to prevent reoccurrence.
* Support cross-functional teams—including Industrialisation, Manufacturing, and R&D—in implementing process improvements.
* Conduct breakdown analysis and recommend corrective actions to enhance equipment reliability.
* Implement mechanical upgrades or design modifications where necessary.
* Carry out bench fitting and workshop tasks as part of ongoing maintenance and development work.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
* Ensure full compliance with environmental procedures and reporting requirements.
* Report any equipment misuse, safety issues, or site damage to the relevant Unit Controllers.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Strong background in production process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or similar design tools (training available if required).
* Hands-on experience with machine tools such as lathes, vertical millers, and surface grinders.
* Exposure to press tool maintenance is advantageous.
* Working knowledge of roll-forming processes is desirable (training can be provided).
* Analytical and solutions-focused, with a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
