Job Outline:
This post will work across two contracts. The Work-Well Programme and The East Birmingham Jobs and Skills Hub. The postholder will draw on new and existing support in local areas, joining up health services, Job Centre's, and local organisations. We know that a locally led approach is important for Work-Well and employability provision to successfully support people who are at risk of falling out of work or who have already stopped working because of their health condition. This post will also focus on employability for people are suffering long term unemployment or who are economically inactive.
Your role will be to work in the communities of East Birmingham and providing access and navigation to services that support people into work and to live happy and healthy lives
You will also work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to the same standards and model and will receive training in the biopsychosocial approach to supporting people.
The MDT will be based in a range of organisations including DRC but led by the NHS. It will consist of clinicians and practitioners with expertise in mental health, muscular skeletal conditions, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social prescribing and employment support. Members of the MDT will be identified from across the local system with a budget allowance in place to fund their costs.
While Employability will be offered to residents across East Birmingham there will be five posts covering two areas. Your work-well activity will be specifically confined to residents of Shard End & Kitts Green and Birmingham East Central Primary Care Networks (3 FTE work and health coaches)
Key Tasks:
The role of the Work & Health and employability Coach is:
* To work with eligible participants to create an appropriate action plan.
* * To support eligible participants to achieve the objectives within their action plan
* To support eligible participants to navigate services
* To support eligible participants to access their personal budget allowance
* To work collaboratively with other Work & Health Coaches delivering the pilot
* To work with the Work & Health Coach lead to support activity to co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate the pilot
* To support trialling of related innovations such as digital triage
* To provide specialist employability support for East Birmingham residents
* To target the recruitment of eligible clients
* To carry out activities required to progress clients to further learning and/or employment.
* To provide 1 to 1 support beneficiaries to achieve client assessment, action planning, milestones, and target setting.
* Develop links with further learning providers to establish pathways for clients into enhanced learning that will support both entry into and retention in employment.
* To assist Programme Manager in the development of the East Birmingham Job and Skills Hub Service delivering employability skills workshops and weekly Job and Skills Hub to progress clients to obtaining work experience, voluntary placements, further education or training and opportunities for employment.
* Develop direct links with employers and employer agencies to access job opportunities, traineeships, and apprenticeships for the beneficiaries,
* To create client files that evidence entry information, learning progress, achievement (inc. certificates, letters of appointment) and exit information.
* To support clients to access a range of services and activities to promote social engagement and improved health of wellbeing, delivered both within and outside of the Disability Resource Centre relevant to their individual needs.
* To assist those clients who are already in job search; to provide intensive job support when required, to arrange work/learning tasters and volunteer/work experience placements and to refer clients on as appropriate for further support or to training or development opportunities.
* To provide post-employment support to those clients who have gained employment.
To ensure that the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDTs) informational resources are accurate, up-to-date, and meet the needs of clients.
* To actively participate in the marketing and publicity of the MDT and its services including organising displays, events, and exhibitions.
* To collate client information and statistics and produce reports and returns by the set deadlines for the Programme Manager, Head of Service, and funders. This should include evaluation data and measurements of the short- and long-term impact of the project.
* To undertake outreach work at various community-based locations to promote the service, provide locality-based support to clients and to maximise referrals.
* To be aware of and comply with the DRC’s policies and procedures including equality & diversity, health and safety, data protection, equal opportunities, and safeguarding.
* To ensure your own continuing professional development by attending relevant meetings, undergoing training, attending conferences and seminars and by any other appropriate means. In addition, attending CPD events, training courses, meetings seminars and conferences appropriate to the role for development.
* To adhere to administrative and data capture protocols which record and review the progress of individuals, evaluate the short- and long-term impact of the service, track the clients progress post exit and to keep accurate and complete records of casework.
* To actively market and promote the service through professional networks and official social media channels and externally through community events, networking opportunities, recruitment events and job fairs.
* To work effectively as part of the team and be flexible and responsive to changing client needs and DRC requirements.
* To undertake any other delegated duties as may be required from time to time, which are commensurate with the nature and grading of the post. To perform any other duties that may be required in line with current duties to help to develop or expand the service.
* To assess individual support needs related to work which might typically include help with benefits including back to work calculations, travel to work, managing health at work etc. signposting for further support needs utilising local networks to help them overcome their barriers to employment.
* To source job opportunities for clients through tailored job search and regular contact with employers, accessing the hidden labour market to unlock potential jobs that match with the client’s preferences and maintain the employer engagement database.
* To support clients to access a range of health and wellbeing activities internally and externally, to build confidence, increase motivation and develop social and professional interpersonal communication skills.
* To work as part of team, supporting colleagues and clients flexibly, reliably and deliver consistently to deliver effective practice.
The post holder will come into contact with vulnerable adults and will, therefore, be subject to a disclosure check at an enhanced level prior to confirmation of employment.

Be able to demonstrate person centred coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to the needs and barriers of the client, with Information Advice & Guidance L3 or above or willing to work towards that qualification

Previous work in a similar role e.g. welfare to work/employability/publicly funded/not for profit organisation with an Employment Sector Qualification, L3 or above or willing to work towards

Previous experience of partnership working, employer engagement/ recruitment and sourcing volunteering opportunities and work trails

Experience of developing and delivering employability and employment related activities with a relevant teaching/training qualification, L3 or above or willing to work towards
