Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Finance Ledger Clerk to manage day-to-day financial records and support the smooth running of the finance function. The role includes maintaining accurate ledgers, reconciling daily transactions, processing payroll, issuing invoices, and following up on outstanding payments. The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
* Reconcile daily transactions, bank accounts, and payment records
* Process weekly/monthly payroll accurately and on time
* Issue customer invoices and statements
* Monitor outstanding payments and actively chase overdue invoices
* Record supplier invoices and manage payment schedules
* Assist with cash flow monitoring and reporting
* Prepare financial documentation for management and accountants
* Ensure compliance with company procedures and financial regulations
* Support month-end and year-end finance processes
* Maintain confidentiality of financial information
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in bookkeeping, finance administration, or ledger management
* Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
* Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage 50
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office applications
* Good communication skills, particularly when dealing with customers regarding payments
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
* AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting certification
* Payroll processing experience
* Experience working in a small business or finance team environment
Salary
Competitive salary dependent on experience.
Working Hours
16 hours per week spread across 3 days, there will be a level of flexibility in terms of which days and school runs can be accommodated.
