Housing Support Officer who has experience working in a customer facing role, supporting young people, with excellent communication and administrative skills is required to join a housing association.

FULL TRAINING PROVIDED

You may not have experience in this sector, as the company recognise that transferrable skills and experience are just as valuable and full training is provided.

SALARY: £25,148 pro rata + Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Covering Oxford City Centre and Witney areas

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday and part of an on-call rota

PLEASE NOTE: A Full Driving Licence and your own vehicle is essential

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Housing Support Officer who has experience working in a customer facing role, supporting young people, with excellent communication and administrative skills.

Working as the Housing Support Officer you will support young people in building independence and managing risks while ensuring a safe and well-maintained living environment.

As a Housing Support Officer your responsibilities will include assessing new tenants, providing tenancy support, conducting health and safety checks, and working with partner agencies.

This role requires self-motivation, as you will often work independently, with occasional on-call duties.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Housing Support Officer will include:

1. Promote independence, freedom, and choice as a keyworker to residents, working with young people in supporting them to achieve their goals as they work towards independent living.
2. Ensuring residents are safe and able to manage risks as necessary, which often you’ll need to do with the help of partner agencies.
3. Responsible for health and safety checks within the building, as well as reporting and monitoring maintenance issues.
4. There is an on-call out-of-hours service; you would cover one week out of every four, for which additional payment is made.
5. Assess all new tenants and allocate beds according to procedures.
6. Provide information and advice to service users in order to assist them in establishing and maintaining their tenancy.
7. Ensure room checks and housekeeping void procedures are followed and that voids are kept to a minimum.
8. Ensure that tenancy/license is upheld.
9. Carry out risk assessments as necessary, liaising with other agencies where appropriate.
10. Promote user participation by providing information and advice choices to enable residents to participate more fully in decisions relating to them.
11. Carry out designated H&S checks and facilities management of the building and liaise with internal departments.
12. This role will require working alone more often than not so discipline and self-motivation is key.

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

You won’t necessarily have experience in this sector, as the company recognise that transferrable skills and knowledge are equally valuable.

The company is specifically looking for candidates with the right skills and attitudes, who will demonstrate and promote the values of caring by nature, working better together and thinking for tomorrow.

1. Experience of working in a customer-facing role, motivating complex and diverse client groups to sustain housing, health and/or work outcomes.
2. Previous experience of supporting young people is essential.
3. An awareness of Universal Credit, Housing Benefits, and voluntary and statutory support agencies.
4. The skills to identify and manage risk.
5. An awareness of safeguarding measures and processes.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Intermediate level of IT skills (MS Office) and confident in learning new systems or software.
8. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math & English (Grade C or 4 or above).
9. Right to work in the UK, unfortunately, visa applications cannot be sponsored.
10. Full driving licence and access to a car for work use.
