Teaching Assistants – Burnley Secondary School (Start: October 2025) Location: Burnley Job Type: Full-Time (Fixed Term – Full Academic Year) Start Date: October 2025 Vision for Education is working in partnership with a mainstream secondary school in Burnley to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a student with autism on a 1:1 basis. The Role Are you passionate about supporting students with additional needs? Are you calm, patient, and committed to helping young people thrive in a school environment? We are looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work closely with a secondary-aged student with autism, providing tailored one-to-one support both in and out of the classroom. You’ll assist with learning activities, encourage social development, and help the student access the curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs. This role is set to begin in October 2025 and will continue for the full academic year. The School The school is a well-established and inclusive mainstream secondary based in Burnley, with a positive learning culture and high aspirations for all students. It has a supportive Senior Leadership Team, a strong pastoral ethos, and a commitment to professional development for all staff. You will be joining a collaborative team that values mutual respect, student-centred approaches, and a shared goal of enabling every child to succeed. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will need: Experience supporting secondary-aged students, ideally with autism or other additional needs A minimum Level 2 qualification in childcare, support work, or a related field Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills Confidence, initiative, and the ability to adapt to different situations in the school environment A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people You must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willing to apply for a new one).
